Stalker Campfire Guitar Music Recreated

I read something interesting today: a guy over at ttlg.com forums has taken it upon himself to recreate the guitar tracks from the Stalker series. Which guitar tracks? You know- when the stalkers sit around the campfires and whip out an acoustic guitar from their back pocket and start strumming some catchy tunes.

Anyhow, he's done most of them and he's provided them for download here.

These songs, according to the same thread, are traditional Russian and Ukrainian songs. There's a track, off of the same album, In Moscow, called "Moscow Evenings", on YouTube.

Want Stalker on Console? Be Prepared to Wait

There have been rumours since May or so this year, with many hopefuls wishing that Stalker might make an appearance on consoles- the Xbox 360 in particular.

GSC Game World, the developer of the series, which so far includes Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, Stalker: Clear Sky and the upcoming Stalker: Call of Pripyat, has said in an interview with Stalker-Portal that there won't be a console port perhaps until after Call of Pripyat has been releases, if at all.

Some gems that were translated from the interview, which is in Russian from what I understand:

"We think that whatever port of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. for Xbox 360 won't come out before the full release of the game's sequel."

"At the moment, all are busy with preparing the PC version of the game," added Yarovsky of Call of Pripyat. "What comes after - we'll see."

"We have become a developer not only for the Xbox 360, but also for the PlayStation 3 and the Nintendo Wii," he said. "We've been also developing a prototype for the PSP, but currently there's not enough manpower to make our ambitions come true."

I don't see Stalker as much of a console title, but I imagine it's only a matter of time. At least for once, this dev is focusing on the PC and not the console, like so many other titles. Consolers might get the Prestige Edition of Modern Warfare 2, but they won't have Stalker- at least, not for now. Maybe next year?

If all goes well, Call of Pripyat should be out in November this year. There's been a Stalker title for both 2007 and 2008, so there's no reason to doubt it completely, but I would say that perhaps by the end of the year it will be released. That's playing it safe.

Finally Some Stalker News...A lot of News

Quite a fair bit of Call of Pripyat news lately.

Stalker: Call of Pripyat (some spell it as Prypyiat) now has a publisher in bitComposer Games. Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl had THQ, and Clear Sky had Deep Silver.

I don't know what the hell's up with joystiq- they claim that Namco Bandai is the publisher. The official site says it's bitComposer Games... neutral

Call of Pripyat, despite rumours and earlier reports, is a PC exclusive, and is set for a November 2009 release if all things go well. I'd say by the end of the year, maybe.

And, as I was just checking, a new trailer for Call of Pripyat has just been added to the downloads section on the main site. And there's some new Call of Pripyat screenshots as well. Cool! cool
